Elizabeth Orens

Mother Orens volunteers at All Souls on Sundays, weekdays, and feast days when she is able.

She is active our All Souls are Green enviornmental stewardship committee and has nurtured a new women's spirituality group.  Mother Elizabeth retired as rector of St. James Parish in Parkton, Maryland in 2012, but some will remember her from when she served as Senior Chaplain at the National Cathedral School for Girls. She has also served on Woodstock Theology Center’s Inter-religious Dialogue on Education and has been President and Chairman of the Board of the Interfaith Conference here in Washington DC.  Her husband, Dr. John Orens, is a professor of European History at George Mason University, and has led our adult forum on occasion.

Mother Elizabeth has studied piano at the Julliard School, and continues to play, even offering the occasional recital. She also studied at Columbia University, Union Theological Seminary, and Episcopal Divinity School.
