"I am the resurrection and the life, saith the Lord
he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live;
and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die."

Notifications of Death

If one of our parishioners has died or if death is imminent, please call the parish office (202-232-4244) or the rector (202) 681-9021 as soon as possible. A priest from the parish is always available to offer prayer, last rites, or help with logistics, first conversations with a funeral home or cemetery, etc.

Funeral Planning

Planning for a funeral may be done in advance of death or after. In either case, please call the parish office or the rector to make an appointment to discuss the service before finalizing or publishing any details. While we make every effort to accommodate priorities and preferences, our building and clergy/staff are sometimes booked with things that cannot be rescheduled.

Funerals at All Souls are conducted exclusively according to the order of service of the Book of Common Prayer. While services for former members or non-members are certainly possible, we always rely upon the structure of our traditional funeral rites to guide and direct the planning of a service.

All Souls has a columbarium, which is a large, beautiful, wooden cabinet in which brass urns are kept. Cremains, the cremated remains of a loved one, are interred in the urn and the urn is engraved with the person's name and dates of birth and death. The remains of two people may be placed in one urn. For information on reserving an urn, please contact the parish office at 202-232-4244 or email Grace Kreher, parish coordinator.
