ACOLYTES GUILD
Acolytes serve in various ways as part of the ceremony of worship: as cross bearers (lead cross or Crucifer and the second cross or ministers' cross), Gospel book bearer, incense boat bearer, Thurifer and torch bearers. They also serve in the preparation of the table for Holy Communion, as chalicist, and assisting in the ablutions after Holy Communion. In addition they consult with the Rector on liturgy and worship.
The motto of the Guild is "In all things, God be glorified." There are currently twenty-eight active members of the guild, including adults and children. Service assignments are made on a quarterly schedule.
Acolytes participate in the service four to five times per quarter depending upon skill and experience.
If you, or your children, would like to participate in the church services as an acolyte, please contact Mr. Ed Perlman, the Rector, or the Parish Office.
A HANDBOOK FOR SERVERS
The All Souls Handbook for Servers was prepared by Barry E. Huber and Mike McGee, published in 1998 and revised in 2004. While some changes have occurred in practice and ceremony, the Handbook continues to be a thorough guide for our liturgy.
