THANKS FOR A GOOD ANNUAL MEETING
Our May 17 Annual Meeting had the best prelude imaginable:a short skit performed by the Sunday school. Marcia Anderson and Stephanie Vestal directed “Dateline 2 AD” in which the children pretended they were biblical characters who were being interviewed about Jesus. One new theological insight among many was offered when one little girl was asked what she remembered about Jesus.“He liked my hair,” she recalled. Others reported simply that “Jesus said he loves me.”
About one hundred people filled the undercroft and 86 eligible voters signed in.Since all of the nominees for office ran unopposed this year, the assembly asked that the slate be adopted by acclamation. We can be grateful for a talented and energetic new vestry comprised of the following:
Nancye Suggs, Senior Warden (for a two-year term ending in 2011)
Dale Lewis, Junior Warden (for a one-year term ending in 2010)
Sally MacDonald (General member of vestry for a one-year term ending in 2010)
Stu Edwards (General member of vestry for a three-year term ending in 2012)
Stephen Rhody (General member of vestry for a three-year term ending in 2012)
Gene Sexton (General member of vestry for a three-year term ending in 2012)
They join our returning vestry members, Marcia Anderson (2010), Frank Karel (2010), Bill Miller (2011), Bob Publicover (2011), and Jim Solomon (2011).We thanked Darla Brown and Susan Morrison for their service to vestry. We are grateful for the continued service of Larry Sturgeon as treasurer and Stephen Jacobs as registrar.
We also elected two parish representatives to Diocesan Convention: Heidi Rasciner and Susan Morrison, and two alternates: Stefan Lopatkiewicz and Will Coley.A draft copy of the minutes from the meeting may be read on the parish website, in the Vestry section.Paper copies may be obtained in the undercroft.
My deepest thanks go to everyone who helped make our meeting run so smoothly and to all who continue to add to their energy, faith, and creativity to the mission of All Souls Parish.John Beddingfield
